The RINGHOTEL GOLDENER KNOPF is more than 500 years old and in possession of the oldest tavern license in Bad Säckingen.
- 1456 the "Herberg zem Kopf" in Säckingen is mentioned in documents from Rheinfelden
- 1466 Hans Schmidlin is host of the "Wirt zum Knopf", the inn's name has already changed
- in the 16th century Säckingen's noble foundation for ladies is frequently accommodating and feasting their guests in the "Knopf"
- 1590 the inn "Zum Roten Knopf" is sold
- 1637 Schultheiss (ancient word for mayor) Adam Renck owns the inn "Herberge zum Knopf"
- around 1850 poet Victor von Scheffel lives in the "Knopf" and creates his masterpiece "Der Trompeter von Säckingen"
- until the 19th century the "Knopf" is located at the marketplace
- 1860 the inn is set up in today's building
- from about 1880 our inn is called "Zum Güldenen Knopf"
- 1939 the city of Bad Säckingen buys the "Knopf"
- 1953 the "Knopf" is sold to a brewery
- 1964 family Toni De Bois leases the "Goldener Knopf" and finally buys it in 1970
- 1973 construction of the new building
- 1991 takeover of the "Hotel Goldener Knopf" by Mr. U. F. Baur
- between 1992 and 1996 the renovation of the new building, event locations, cuisine and the old building is performed
- 1997 purchase of the attached house "Standesamt"
- 1998 rebuilding and arrangement of new rooms
- 2000 reconstruction of the bar and renovation of the restaurant
- 2006 Mr. Christian Herzog leases the "Goldener Knopf"
- september 2007: purchase of the "Hotel Goldener Knopf" by Mr. Herzog
- winter 2010/2011: comprehensive renovation of 39 hotel rooms
- since january 1st, 2011 membership with "Ringhotels e.V."
